Atena Karimzadeh — NIP-registered psychologist at SarvCare, online therapy in English and Farsi

Atena Karimzadeh

Psycholoog NIP® · #250722

I studied psychology at the University of Tehran and received my master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Leiden University in the Netherlands. I currently live in the Netherlands and work with various centers, both in-person and online. Most of my professional life, both in Iran and here, has been with immigrants: people standing between two worlds, facing unique challenges — living between two cultures, loneliness, fear of the unknown, and losing a large part of the people they relied on. That's why I strive to create a space where you can talk without judgment, and I work to make therapy accessible to everyone, regardless of their life or financial circumstances.

In my sessions, empathy and science go hand in hand: I listen to your story, understand your struggles, and use evidence-based approaches to help you. Our sessions are based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy, conducted according to internationally recognized standards.

This place is called Sarv (Cypress) Clinic, because the cypress in our historical memory symbolizes resilience, growth, and freedom. It's always green, and in cold, storm, and drought, it flexibly and persistently finds its way forward: this is what I'd like us to practice in our sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions

When is SarvCare not the right fit?

SarvCare works with adults (18+) experiencing mild to moderate mental health concerns. We're not the right fit for:

  • Emergency or crisis care (call 112, 113 Zelfmoordpreventie 0800-0113, or your GP for urgent help)
  • Active suicidal thoughts or recent suicide attempts
  • Active psychosis or mania
  • Severe eating disorders requiring specialised treatment
  • Anyone needing inpatient care
  • Court-mandated or forensic therapy
  • Children and adolescents (under 18)
  • Medication management (we can't prescribe; we refer to psychiatrists when needed)

If your situation is outside our scope, we'll help you find appropriate care.

Do I need a referral from my GP?
No, you can book directly with SarvCare without a GP referral. Simply schedule a free 30-minute consultation to get started.
Do you offer therapy in Farsi?
Yes, we offer sessions in both English and Farsi (Persian). You can choose the language you feel most comfortable in.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your therapy goals, your individual circumstances, and the pace that works best for you. We work together to find the right approach.
What therapy approaches do you use?
We use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy, tailored to your individual needs.
How much do sessions cost?
It's important to us that psychology is accessible to everyone, whether you're a student, a newcomer, or someone who has been living abroad for years. For this reason, we work with a sliding scale: a way to offer more affordable sessions to those with lower incomes, while keeping the practice sustainable.

Standard rate · €85–95
For people in stable professional circumstances.

Reduced rate · €60–75
Available on request, no explanation needed.

Accessibility rate · €40–50
For students, recent arrivals adjusting to life in Europe, and people in genuine financial hardship. A limited number of slots are available at this rate.

We don't ask for documentation. You're trusted to choose the rate that honestly reflects your situation. If you're not sure where you fit, we can talk about it in our first conversation.

Once agreed, the rate stays fixed. If your circumstances change, we can revisit it together.
